Are coming along?

workweekend

Hey our annual work weekend at Drift Creek to coming up soon.

This weekend is lots of fun and I hope many of you can make it. I know school/sports conflicts are going to be an issue for some...so don’t feel guilty if you can’t make it (We understand) Our goal is to simply get a nice team together to go down to the camp and work hard for one day... I think it’s a great way to be supportive of a place many of us love.

Because Drift Creek hosts us for the weekend and feeds us it is nice to offset these costs by everyone giving the camp a gift of $20.00. I will not be collecting this in advance as it is NOT mandatory...I would simply ask that you each seek out Tony or Brenda (the directors) and offer them the money during our first meal there on Sat Morning.

We will put together a list of stuff to bring later. I think most of us may be working on the road filling potholes. :) Our Biblical text for the weekend shall be Isaiah 45:2 “I will go before you and make the rough places smooth.”

Woodlawn United Methodist Church in NW Portland is the home of the Portland Backpack program that we have been in partnership for the past two years. On January 16 you are welcome to come join other youth and adults who support this program as well as spend a few minutes remembering the life of Martin Luther King Jr.

Things are going downhill…

On January 7th the PMC MYF and JR HIGH Youth and bunch of adult leaders (a group of 27) all climbed into cars and headed up to Ski Bowl for a day in the snow. We spent most of out time on an upper hill where the crowds were thinner and the “tubing police” were a little more forgiving. After an attempt at a snowball fight which consisted of trying to stand next to Jen Bishop (Pregnant women are a forbidden target)… the group made their way down the mountain where we preceded to totally overwhelm a poor Subway shop.

Thanks for to all the leaders who came along and provided transportation. It was a fun day!
